The introduction of the College Football Playoff has been a big step forward for the NCAA and making sure that the winner of the National Championship earns the title through their path to being in the final four teams.

While there are certainly a lot of things that could be improved with the selection process and perhaps a potential expansion down the line, the playoff has added yet another powerful element to the sport and has given football fans one of the best days of television of the year.

In the 2015-16 season, Alabama, Michigan State, Oklahoma and Clemson proved to be the four best teams in the nation and it ended being Alabama bringing home the National Championship.

If there was one downfall to the College Football Playoff this past season, it was the fact that the game took place on New Year’s Eve and the ratings reflected as such. That will be changed in a couple of years and there for a conflict of interest won’t be in place with a major holiday.

As for this year, the Fiesta Bowl and the Peach Bowl will be the two semifinal games and they will take place on December 31, 2016. The National Championship Game will take place on January 9, 2017.
