Michael Jordan and Chris Paul take shots for shoes

Campers learn the hard way that Michael Jordan’s still got it after promising free shoes if he misses a shot.

Michael Jordan, historically, has never been one to turn down a challenge. He’s a six-time NBA champion, arguably the greatest scorer the game’s ever seen, and a famously insane competitor. With that said, it should come as no surprise that, even at a basketball camp, Jordan’s fiery nature and desire to win comes out naturally.

LA Clippers point guard Chris Paul issued Jordan a challenge at his Flight School basketball camp. Take some shots, and if the five-time MVP missed three of them, every camper would go home with a free pair of Jordan brand shoes.

But MJ didn’t miss.

Jordan took six shots from the elbows and perimeter and didn’t miss a single one. Even at 53, even with screaming shoe-hungry children trying to distract him, and even with (for one shot) Chris Paul’s hand in his face, MJ knocked them all down. One thing is certain. The 14-time All Star, 10-time scoring champ, and one time Michigan Football captain still has the jumper that led him to possibly the greatest career this game’s ever seen.

The campers, however, had a shot at redemption. Jordan promised free shoes if Paul could make all of his shots. The campers were hopeful, as the nine-time All-Star is one of the more reliable shooters in the league. CP3 was going strong out of the gate, with four straight makes, but then rimmed out on the last two shots, ending the shoe dreams of the campers.

They learned the hard way what Patrick Ewing, Isaiah Thomas, Reggie Miller, Karl Malone, and countless other players learned before them. Michael Jordan will crush your dreams.
