Representing the United States in basketball for the Summer Olympics has its perks. On Monday night, team leaders Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony were given an exclusive sendoff party ahead of their trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this week. The two stars were joined by fellow Olympian DeAndre Jordan in what amounted to one fancy event.
On Tuesday, TMZ reported that the party was thrown by the guys at Haute Time and Avion tequila. Golden State Warriors star Durant and New York Knicks captain Carmelo Anthony were there as was DeAndre Jordan of the Clippers. The event held in a Houston mansion featured alcohol, smokes and food such as Chicken Chasseur and Sacher Torte.
There were also gifts for the basketball stars. A Big Bang Unico Titanium bracelet valued around $17,000 was given to Melo, while Durant was given a Classic Fusion Titanium King Gold worth around $10k. It wasn’t mentioned if Jordan also received a gift but it appears that whoever was in the gift giving mood wanted to make sure that the ballers (and their friends) know where to shop for jewelry in the future.
It also made for a nice incentive for the guys before they head off to Brazil, an area which hasn’t exactly been painted as the best spot for the latest edition of these Summer Games. First up for Team USA basketball will be a preliminary round game against China this coming Saturday.
Based on their two routs of the Chinese in exhibition play, the United States should do just fine. Melo and KD will certainly be stylin’ off the court as well as on it.
