The running joke on social media is that Russell Westbrook is a robot or something inhuman. He’s torn his knee up and has actually had a giant dent on the side of his face during his NBA career, but he keeps on coming at you like a locomotive.

Apparently, Westbrook doesn’t feel emotions either.

When discussing how Westbrook and his new extension to stay with the Oklahoma City Thunder came about, The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski broke it down with the lede and then a follow-up of all follow-ups afterwards.

"When Russell Westbrook traveled to Oklahoma City to meet with general manager Sam Presti in the aftermath of the franchise’s lost weekend in the Hamptons, Westbrook held no interest for a post-mortem on Kevin Durant. For a front office still mired in angst and anger, Westbrook delivered a sobering splash of ice water: What’s next?No nostalgia, no reflection and no regret: In Westbrook’s world, Durant had been deleted like his old teammate’s text message saying goodbye on the way to Golden State."

For Oklahoma City, it’s a click of the reset button with Westbrook as their franchise centerpiece and for Westbrook, it’s a chance to be “the guy” for the Thunder. Westbrook is as competitive as any player in the league today and for him to seemingly feel nothing after Durant’s departure like this shouldn’t come a shock. He’s a guy that keeps to himself more often than not.

This season provides just another target to lock onto and destroy in Westbrook’s eyes.
