One of the biggest surprises and biggest moments at WrestleMania 32 was a complete surprise.

Unfamiliar music came up and a big figure came lumbering toward the ring. In AT&T Stadium, Shaquille O’Neal made his return to the WWE, sending the wrestlers in the Andre the Giant Battle Royale staring in awe as O’Neal and the Big Show stood toe to toe.

That appears to be the beginning of a yearlong feud that could culminate at WrestleMania 33 in one of O’Neal’s favorite haunts in Orlando’s Camping World Stadium.

The Big Show (aka Paul Wight) told Shanghai Daily that a match between the two giant athletes is in the works for WrestleMania 33 next April:

"At next year’s Wrestlemania in Orlando, Wight will also come face to face with former NBA basketball player Shaquille O’Neal, another sporting heavyweight, for a match that might just shake the foundations of pro wrestling.“We’ll have one heck of a match and we’ll see what’s up. We’ll give the fans a treat.”"

That seems about as official as a thing can be.

Rumors have flown since the ESPY Awards when the WWE began working an angle on the red carpet for Big Show to challenge Shaq to a match.

The two have had an ongoing feud that dates back to when O’Neal hosted an episode of RAW in 2007 and O’Neal helped a tag team defeat the Big Show.

At WrestleMania last year, O’Neal and Big Show stared each other down before performing a double chokeslam on the equally giant Kane. The other wrestlers in the battle royal than ganged up to eliminate both O’Neal and the Big Show.

This is typically how wrestling feuds get started. And it appears both athletes are willing to take their bumps and go at it as one of the early matches during WrestleMania in Orlando this April.
