The Cowboys have made headlines over the past few weeks because of their need for a backup quarterback. Tony Romo has had his injury woes and it can very well continue this upcoming season.
Current backup Kellen Moore broke his leg in camp and will miss significant time. Let’s face it, Moore wasn’t a good choice for the job anyway. Nonetheless, this has left the Cowboys without a backup QB and has even forced head coach Jason Garrett taking some snaps during practice.
So, Moore is hurt, Garrett is the coach, Nick Foles signed with the Chiefs. What’s left for this team? Maybe Hall of Famer Brett Favre?
This would not be the first time Favre has come out of retirement to play. Teams have contacted him over the years to possibly make a return and he has not made the move–yet. According to NFL.com, Favre spoke about playing for the Cowboys and said he has one important stipulation.
“The only problem is I can’t get hit. Can they promise I won’t get hit?” Favre asked.
While the Cowboys do have one of the best offensive lines in the league, there is no guarantee that a quarterback won’t be getting hit and Favre knows that better then anyone.
Favre was a Cowboy fan before his football days and he probably has had dreams of playing in Dallas. It couldn’t happen right? A 46-year old who is about to be enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame can’t possibly be thinking of a comeback. Hey, that’s what we all thought the first time.
While it is almost certain that Favre will not be on the Cowboy roster this season, it is something that people will keep in the back of their minds.
