The United States women’s soccer team will be taking on France in the second game of the group stage on Saturday. After both teams won their opening games, they will meet each other hoping to win not only the match but help secure first place in group G.
The American’s are coming off of a 2-0 win over New Zealand in the opening match of these 2016 summer Olympic games.
The USWNT looked great in the win on Wednesday night. Led by goals from Alex Morgan and captain Carli Lloyd the U.S looked like they are ready to continue the dominance that they have shown over the last year.
After a record 2015, which was capped off by winning the World Cup, the United States are a favorite in these Olympics. Even though the U.S is ranked #1, they will be faced with their toughest matchup of the group stage in the French team.
France is the third ranked team in the games. They too are coming off of a win in their opening match. They beat Columbia 4-0 on Wednesday, showing that they are a force to be reckoned with. The French team is one of the most talented teams in the world to never finish on the podium at the Olympics. They will be looking to make a statement with a win over the American powerhouse.
