2016 Rio Olympics tennis results from Day 6 of the games, including singles wins from Madison Keys, Rafael Nadal, and Andy Murray

With Serena Williams out of the women’s singles event of the 2016 Rio Olympics tennis competition and with Roger Federer not even competing in the men’s singles event, you might think that the drama has subsided. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth. On Day 6 of the Games, there  were numerous big names in action. USA’s Madison Keys, Spain’s Rafael Nadal, and Great Britain’s Andy Murray were all in singles action. Meanwhile the like of Venus Williams, Nadal, and others were involved in mixed doubles events.

Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray both picked up wins in their Men’s singles matches. Now they’ll advance into the fourth round of the Olympics tennis competition with eyes on gold. For what it’s worth, Murray was victorious in his first round mixed doubles match with Heather Watson. Nadal and his partner, Garbine Muguruza, were not so lucky as they were ousted. Nadal and Marc Lopez, however, were victorious in men’s doubles action.

In the Olympics tennis women’s singles quarterfinals, the US’s Madison Keys was the focal point. Keys found herself up against Daria Kasatkina of Russia, but took care of her to start the day. Meanwhile, Elina Vitolina, who upset Serena, lost to Petra Kvitova. Venus Williams, though, stayed alive in mixed doubles action.

Things are just now starting to truly heat up in the Olympics tennis competition. We’re going to start seeing the big names match up against one another and that’s where the fun always starts. Even without the women’s favorite already being ousted, that won’t take away from the drama. Moreover, it won’t make the later rounds that are on-deck any less of must-see TV.

We shall see if there are any surprises left from here on out.
