After an exciting day of Olympics women’s basketball captured the attention of fans on Wednesday, Thursday promised even more great action as the six teams from Group A will be back on the floor once again doing battle. There is plenty still left to be decided in said Group A of the Olympics women’s basketball competition in regards to positioning and trying to advance. However, that picture will start to become much clearer throughout the day, starting with the first matchup of the day featuring Belarus vs Turkey.
Belarus has been in bar none the closest games of any team in this competition to date. They were narrowly edged out in their opener by Japan as they lost by only four points. Of course, it was an even smaller margin that they lost by in their second game, falling to France by only one point. However, the small margin of victory finally played in their favor in their third matchup as they beat Brazil by two points.
It’s been the same results ultimately in regards to wins and losses, but with a much different look for Turkey throughout Rio 2016 to get to this point. Turkey put up an early fight, but allowed France to roll over them in their opener. They then followed that up by playing a talented Australia team close, but ultimately losing by five points. Turkey got their win too in their last match as they toppled Japan to the tune of a 14-point victory. Now these two teams will do battle on Day 6 to try and gain better position in regards to advancing.
