The Los Angeles Rams are likely to give Jeff Fisher and Les Snead new contract extensions

Saturday night is a pretty historical day, as the Los Angeles Rams are officially coming home. As the NFL preseason is continuing to kick off this weekend, the Rams are making their long-awaited return to Los Angeles, the place that they left years ago for St. Louis. Most certainly, it’s the first step in what some expect to be a bright future for this franchise.

Speaking of the future of the Los Angeles Rams, before they are set to take on the Dallas Cowboys in Los Angeles on Saturday, there was a bit of news that came through the wire. Apparently, the team is trying to sign both head coach Jeff Fisher and general manager Les Snead to contract extensions.

While a move like this generally would be received as a good one, in the case of the Rams, some people might be left scratching their heads.

Specifically, they’ll be scratching their heads when it comes to the news that Fisher might be getting an extension. While he might be one of the more respected head coaches in the game of the NFL, he’s not exactly the most successful. As we all know by now, he’s been the butt of a lot of 7-9 jokes, so you can see where some people might see it as a little perplexing that he might benefit from something like this.

Still, the Rams are new to Los Angeles and they want to make it seem to the fans that they’re a stable organization, and showing faith in your head coach is one way to go about that. Whether or not it’s a smart move in the long run, though, remains to be seen.
