A woman has sued Toronto Blue Jays star Edwin Encarnacion for giving her STDs while having unprotected sex.

Edwin Encarnacion is set to be the biggest free agent in the upcoming MLB offseason. The power hitter who rotates between first base and designated hitter has had a tremendous season so far. Through 122 games, Encarnacion has 35 home runs and 101 RBIs. He’s on pace to eclipse his home run total of 39 last season.

With the Toronto Blue Jays getting set for a playoff run, Encarnacion has proven to be a valuable piece. But any Jays fans hoping to see him carry his tremendous hitting into October may be out of luck. According to TMZ, a woman has sued Encarnacion for giving her STDs while the two had unprotected sex.

"The woman claims she hooked up with Edwin during a trip to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic in February 2016… and had unprotected sex on at least two occasions. The woman claims she was in pain in the days after the hookup and thought she had Zika – so she went to a doctor. She later learned it was not Zika – but rather two STDs.The woman claims she contacted Edwin – but insisted he was clean and “suggested she may have picked up [the STDs] when they went four-wheeling and she swam in the river."

All of this has led to a lawsuit of the Blue Jays star over misrepresentation and battery. She is demanding more than $11.5 million in compensation.

Skeptics may say that this woman is just looking for attention, but when TMZ reached out to Edwin’s agent, they refused to comment. Which is pretty suspicious if they have nothing to hide. The league has yet to investigate this matter, but a suspension to Encarnacion would be devastating for him and his teammates.

This is one of the more interesting ways a player can get caught with steroids, which is why people are questioning the validity of it. But perhaps the woman is a Red Sox or Orioles fan, and is trying to think of a way they can catch up to the Blue Jays. A suspension to Encarnacion would do that, and it would make the decision from front office to keep either him or Jose Bautista easier.
