WWE Backlash 2016: Dean Ambrose vs AJ Styles for WWE World Championship
By Jack Crosby
AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose will battle for the WWE World Championship at WWE Backlash in September
With WWE SummerSlam out of the way now, it’s time to start getting ready for just about two shows per month. WWE Smackdown Live will be up first, as Backlash will be taking place on September 11. And after the show on Tuesday night, we now know what the main event will be.
Dean Ambrose will be putting the WWE World Championship on the line and he’ll be doing so against someone who is on quite the tear as of late. On September 11 at WWE Backlash, it’ll be Ambrose putting the title on the line against AJ Styles.
"IT’S ON! @TheDeanAmbrose will face @AJStylesOrg ONE-ON-ONE for the @WWE World Championship at #WWEBacklash! #SDLive https://t.co/3BttqhLJi8— WWE (@WWE) August 24, 2016"
In the main event of Smackdown Live on Tuesday night, Styles was pitted against the man who lost to Ambrose at SummerSlam, Dolph Ziggler, with the stipulation being that if Ziggler won, the match would be a triple threat at Backlash. However, as you can see above, that did not end up being the case.
As for Styles, you really have to be excited about the prospects for him at the moment. Sunday night at WWE SummerSlam, Styles earned one of the biggest victories of his illustrious career when he defeated John Cena in the center of the ring — clean as a whistle. It was at that moment everyone realized that there were some big plans in the cards for the Phenomenal One.

There are just a few more weeks before Backlash takes place, so there is limited time to get a build in for this match. But regardless of that fact, you know that these two should put on quite the showing when they meet in the ring.
