Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas hit up Twitter to send a message to Josh Norman after his recent “shut down” comments.

The NFL season has yet to begin, but the war of words, trash talk, and social media sparring is underway. Recently, Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas fired back at cornerback Josh Norman over comments the former Panthers star made with regards to Super Bowl 50.

Norman will play for the Washington Redskins this season. He was quoted as saying about Thomas in an ESPN piece, “I don’t know what he was out there for. He was supposed to be an all-world guy, and I shut him down.”

Thomas didn’t get too upset at the verbal jabs, using the power of Twitter to fire back. On Tuesday, he reminded Norman of what he has that Norman still wants.

The two faced off in Super Bowl 50, which Thomas’ Broncos ultimately won. However, Thomas is listed in the box score with just one catch and a total of eight yards. Norman attributes that to his stellar defense. It’s understandable why he calls himself “the best cornerback on Earth” right now. He’s going to need to back it up this coming season with all the talking he’s been doing.

Being the best in the game at your position is certainly a feat. Having at least one or more Super Bowl trophies is something many, if not all, of today’s players aspire to get. Norman is still in the hunt for that first trophy, and unfortunately for him, it may be a bit of a wait now that he’s switched NFC teams.

Talk is cheap, but hefty contracts are nice. After signing with Washington, Norman became the highest-paid corner in the game with a five-year, $75 million deal with $50 million guaranteed. Thomas still has that bit of jewelry that Norman really wants, though.
