Former WWE Divas champion Michelle McCool has been diagnosed with skin cancer.

She hasn’t been in the news in recent years since her WWE departure, but Michelle McCool is making headlines now — for a rather unfortunate reason.

The former WWE Divas champion took to her Twitter and Instagram account Wednesday afternoon to reveal she’s been diagnosed with skin cancer.

It’s a pretty shocking reveal for the former WWE Divas Champion, as she is usually pictured as a health and fitness person. She often posts pictures to her social media pages, highlighting her workouts and other activities. It’s a reminder to everyone to stay protected, especially from the dangers of the sun.

McCool had a seven-year run with WWE that began in 2004. She entered the “Raw Diva Search” contest, and placed seventh.

She has the distinction of being the very first WWE Divas Champion, after defeating longtime friend Natalya in 2008 to win the championship. During the course of her career, she was also part of a very successful and dominant tag team called LayCool, alongside Layla.

After the on-screen split of LayCool, she dropped a “Loser Leaves Town” match to Layla in 2011. Following that match, McCool made the decision to retire from wrestling. She later revealed that she spent the final stretch of her WWE contract competing with an injured foot and a torn MCL.

The 36-year-old McCool has only made minor TV appearances on shows such as Family Feud , Project Runway and The Best Damn Sports Show Period since her retirement. She married fellow professional wrestler Mark Calaway, a.k.a. “The Undertaker,” in June of 2010.
