The Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies are among the MLB teams who will attend Tim Tebow’s open workout.

Tim Tebow’s MLB career is a lot like Donald Trump’s Presidential campaign: most people don’t want to believe it’s real, and yet here we are. And to prove that he’s serious about this, Tebow is holding an open workout in Los Angeles. He will be running a 60-yard dash, catching fly balls, making throws to bases and doing batting practice. Tebow actually has experience playing baseball in high school, and he wants to prove that he’s still got it.

This showcase will attract scouts from up to 20 MLB clubs, but there’s a very short list of teams who are actually interested in signing him at this moment. The frontrunner appears to be the Toronto Blue Jays for a myriad of reasons. For one, Tebow has been training with David Aardsma, who made 14 appearances with Toronto’s Triple-A affiliate this season. And when GM Ross Atkins confirmed that his team would attend the workout, he had this to say:

The Philadelphia Phillies have expressed interest, which is funny since that’s the last city he played football in. But because of that, a move there seems highly unlikely. Dave Dombrowski also confirmed the Boston Red Sox will be watching Tebow’s workout.

Despite this expected circus, it’s still likely the Los Angeles Dodgers will sign him, if anybody does. They held a private training session with him before the start of the season, meaning he’s been on their radar for a while.

But this has gone on for far too long, and it really needs to end. If he’s doing this for money, he’s making enough as a college football analyst — there’s no use coming out of retirement and embarrassing himself further in another sport. Hopefully his workout goes so poorly that nobody signs him, bringing this saga to a merciful end.
