MLB player Carlos Ruiz left an interesting note for the Philadelphia Phillies after his recent trade to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

In sports, trades can make or break teams, and also eat at fans emotionally. A recent trade from the Phillies to the Dodgers sent Carlos Ruiz out west. In exchange, A.J. Ellis got sent to Philadelphia. Both players were popular for their former teams, leaving some fans upset over seeing them go.

Ruiz, known as “Chooch” amongst fans and teammates, left a note that just may tug at the heartstrings a bit more. After learning of his trade, he left a simple but sentimental note up on the whiteboard in the Phillies’ clubhouse.

The note reads “I will miss all of you guys. Good luck the rest of the season. Love you all, Chooch! Gracias.” It clearly shows how close Ruiz felt with this latest team and how he doesn’t hold anything against the guys he teamed up with. The feeling appears to be mutual as Philadelphia had a nice tribute for him as seen in this video.

The 37-year-old Ruiz spent over 10 seasons with the Phillies. His breakout season came in 2012 when he had 121 hits, knocked 16 home runs out of the park, racked up 68 RBI, and had a batting average of .325 for the year.

He now joins a team that is a playoff contender, so it would be tough for him to have too much resentment. There are examples of players who have come out and bash their former teams or teammates for trades or deals. Sometimes players feel betrayed by the team they’ve spent their career helping. Not in the case of Ruiz.

He certainly kept it classy and is bringing all that class with him to Los Angeles. Dodgers fans are likely to embrace “Chooch,” but he’ll clearly never forget his time with the Phillies.
