Charles Barkley is the latest member of the media to have not liked seeing Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott visit a marijuana dispensary.

Though marijuana is legal in Washington and Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott didn’t break any laws by visiting a medicinal marijuana dispensary in Seattle before a preseason game, let’s just say that the optics weren’t good for Elliott and the dysfunctional Cowboys.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones didn’t condone Elliott’s trek to the Seattle weed shop for obvious reasons as his employer. NBA analyst and Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley also had a few things to say about Elliott’s poor choice of judgement the day before his third NFL preseason game.

Barkley said the following on a Friday morning radio show in Philadelphia about how this was “just not good” for Elliott. “I’m like c’mon, man, you gotta be smarter than that…This guy thinks he can just walk into a marijuana store, legal or not, it’s just a bad look. Sometimes I watch sports today. I’m like, you’ve got to have some common sense.”

Elliott has to realize that the Cowboys are expecting him to do big things as a rookie in 2016. Dallas drafted him No. 4 overall out of The Ohio State University to be its bell-cow back this fall.

The Cowboys had reliability issues with last year’s starting running back Joseph Randle and cannot afford another gaffe with starting quarterback Tony Romo out six to 10 weeks with a broken bone in his back.

Barkley isn’t a role model, but he does have a point in calling out Elliott. This trip to a Seattle weed shop was a major distraction to the Cowboys entering their third preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. If anybody is getting a random drug test from the NFL next week, who would be surprised if Elliott’s name is on the list?
