Crystal Palace face Bournemouth at Selhurst Park on Saturday, August 27. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

Crystal Palace have endured a horrible 2016 in the Premier League. They have won only two league games this calendar year, including back-to-back 1-0 losses to start this season. Those defeats hint at what has been a common them for Palace in the recent past: a profound lack of goals. Manager Alan Pardew has tried to rectify that by signing Liverpool outcast Christian Benteke for £32 million. The price is steep, but Benteke is a proven goalscorer and there are plenty of reasons to think he will deliver on a team that has a lot of pace on the wings. Unfortunately for Palace fans, the Belgian target man is likely only fit enough for a place on the bench, which means Pardew will have to go for Connor Wickham, whose goal midweek secured a win against Blackpool in the League Cup.

Bournemouth have also started the season with back-to-back defeats. The first, at home to a new-look Manchester United side, wasn’t so surprising, but the second, away to a not particularly impressive West Ham, would have been more troubling to manager Eddie Howe. The Cherries boast plenty of young talent — forwards Josh King and Callum Wilson, and winger Jordon Ibe stand out in particular — but have looked flat in the first two games. As the old cliche goes, the second season in the Premier League is often the hardest. Howe will expect a response from his team in what is, on paper, their easiest game of the season so far.
