An NFL front office executive compared the disdain for Colin Kaepernick to convicted murderer Rae Carruth.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has made a lot of enemies for sitting down during the national anthem — a list that now includes front-office executives. In a recent article by Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman, anonymous execs even went so far as to compare the fallout from the Kaepernick situation to that of Rae Carruth.

"In interviews with seven team executives, each said he didn’t want Kaepernick on his team. All seven estimated 90 to 95 percent of NFL front offices felt the same way they did. One executive said he hasn’t seen this much collective dislike among front office members regarding a player since Rae Carruth."

Comparing Kaepernick to Carruth is, to put it kindly, shameful. Kaepernick did nothing illegal by protesting the national anthem, while Carruth is in prison for assisting in the murder of a pregnant woman. It’s disgraceful that anyone could have as much hate for Kaepernick as they do for Carruth.

But that’s not all. Another anonymous general manager said Kaepernick has “no respect for this country”. If anything, Kaepernick’s protest is proof he loves America. You can love something with all your heart while not being content with it. And Kaepernick’s comments after the protest show he has a lot of respect for the military members who fought for his right to protest.

An NFL front office executive accusing Kaepernick of having no respect for his country borders on hypocrisy, why with the NFL having been paid millions of dollars for honoring the military. If they weren’t getting paid to do so, would the NFL peddle in the pomp and pageantry they do? Veterans have been largely ignored by society for quite some time, and no amount of fireworks or flyovers is ever going to change that.

Chalk it up to just the latest, surreal chapter in this ever-unfolding, very sad saga.
