The LSU defense came through with a momentum-changing play to recover from a forgettable first half against Wisconsin and get back in the game.

No. 5 LSU experienced a dreadful first half against Wisconsin as they entered halftime at a 6-0 deficit. The lead was extended to 13-0, but the Tigers have gotten back into the game with just the play they needed. LSU cornerback Tre’Davious White intercepted a pass from Wisconsin quarterback Bart Houston and returned it 21 yards to the house.

The Tigers have entered the 2016 season with national title aspirations. It appears that their dreams may not be dashed after all but they cannot afford to lose an out-of-conference game before they take on an annually challenging SEC West schedule. Running back Leonard Fournette has immediately vaulted himself back into the Heisman Trophy conversation with a strong second half though.

Fournette was shut down in the first half with only 35 yards on 11 carries. He has rushed for 55 yards on six carries in the second half though. It remains to be seen whether the junior running back can continue his momentum. The LSU defense surely rejuvenated the rest of the team with their well-timed turnover though. The Tigers offense may not be complete as quarterback Brandon Harris has continued to struggle against Wisconsin. However, LSU will always have a chance whenever Fournette is on the field.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin continues to have problems at quarterback. Houston has thrown two interceptions in this game while throwing no touchdown passes. The Badgers have been known for being a running team in recent years, and it appears nothing has changed for their offense. They will have the fourth quarter to bite back against an LSU team that has dominated the second half thus far.
