We are just days away from kicking off the NFL season, but there are still some things that need to be taken care of.

Now that training camp and the preseason are behind us, teams have had to cut their rosters down to just 53 players. That means a handful of veterans and young guys are looking for work as they were handed their walking papers over the weekend. Some names are ones you’ve never heard of and never will hear again. Others are much more notable, as the likes of Manny Lawson, Dee Milliner and Bishop Sankey were all roster cut casualties.

As the saying goes though, one team’s trash is another team’s potential gold. Not everyone who was released will be signed to active rosters or practice squads. Some players will clear waivers and revert back to IR for the team that released them. That’s a case-by-case deal though, as the waiver frenzy is about as low-key exciting as it gets.

Here’s a look at what the waiver wire action ended up looking like, including players who cleared and signed as free agents:

The Titans may have overhauled their roster with cuts, but that only benefited the Dolphins. Miami has reportedly picked up the former Tennessee receiver on waivers.

The Titans cut former Huskies running back Bishop Sankey, which was a move that pleased Nil Belichick.

Former Alabama cornerback and first-round pick Dee Milliner went unclaimed on waivers and returns to the Jets.

Vikings draft pick Moritz, the feel-good story about the German amateur football player, was cut. He landed back with Minnesota though, being added to the team’s practice squad.

The Jets have waived injured running back Khiry Robinson and cut a former third round pick in Dexter Mcdougle.

In a shocker to some, the Bears are releasing veteran kicker Robbie Gould.

Stay tuned for more waiver wire transactions as they’re announced.
