Sam Foltz’s family robbed while Nebraska honors him on field
One of the most touching stories of NCAA week one was Nebraska honoring late punter Sam Foltz. Unfortunately, his family was targeted by burglars while attending the game.
For the Foltz family, Saturday’s game in Lincoln, Nebraska was to serve as a memorial for their late son, Sam. Sam Foltz had served as punter for the Cornhuskers, but was tragically killed in a car accident this past summer. After Nebraska’s offense went three-and-out to start the game, they sent out a punt unit with only ten players. It was a perfect gesture to honor their teammate.
Foltz’s family was in the stands to witness the touching display. Unfortunately, while they were away from home, burglars were targeting the home of Jordan Foltz. Posting on Facebook, Foltz’s older brother expressed belief that he was an easy target because his robbers knew he would be in Lincoln for the game.
“Tonight, as we celebrated and mourned my brother for all he accomplished in his career, as a person, a Nebraskan, and a Husker, some(one) back here in our home town (broke) into my house and my vehicles,” Foltz said.
This is just a sad, unneeded burden for a family that is still trying to cope with the loss of a beloved son and brother.
“These past few weeks have been some of the most hard, tiring, emotional and trying times I’ve ever ran up against in my 30 years on this earth — as I lost a friend a role model and most importantly a brother.”
The thieves who broke into the house stole a television, as well as tools from Jordan Foltz’s jeep. Overall, the stolen items were worth at least $1,400. There is a vehicle of interest, as a vehicle was seen pulling out of the home’s driveway on Saturday afternoon around 5 p.m local time.

What should have been a healing weekend for the Foltz family was flipped upside down by the despicable acts of those who would use the moment as an opportunity to rob the family. With a vehicle of interest in the case, hopefully the burglars can be brought to justice sooner rather than later.
