Twitter is currently doing what it does best, creating a brand new meme. Meet “FSU Dad.”

Every once in a while Twitter grabs ahold of a great image and just goes off with it. Think along the line of the “Crying Jordan” meme. The meme has been alive for months now and is still thriving.

Well, courtesy of the Florida State Seminoles vs. Ole Miss Rebels college football game tonight, a new meme has been born: “FSU Dad.” Here’s a little taste of some of the best from Twitter.

“FSU Dad” has all the makings of the next big sports meme. Let me break down the making of a great meme:

  • A sad, sad human being. Florida State had been struggling all night against Ole Miss. The internet is a very cruel place, meaning the sadder, the better.
  • A great facial feature. LOOK at that mustache, it really just screams Dad ‘stache, and by no means is that a negative thing.
  • It’s versatile. There are so many different captions that can be used for this picture meaning everyone has a chance to create something great.

Enough of the breakdown of a good meme, here are a couple other FSU Dad favorites:

Here’s one more example, with a little more creativity:

It’s clear we’re in the presence of meme greatness, folks. FSU Dad is essentially that new breakout player who everyone’s raving about. Think Notre Dame quarterback DeShon Kizer.

Florida State was struggling mightily early on, making FSU Dad exactly what he was: disappointed. He’s gotta be a little happier now as the Seminoles have overcome a 22-point deficit against Ole Miss to take the lead, 36-28, in the third quarter.

ESPN may need to pan over to FSU Dad again, because I feel like he’s out there smiling now. However, it’s too late, he’s already an internet sensation and I’m sure his son/daughter has already told him all about it.
