Down big to the Ole Miss Rebels, wide receiver Travis Rudolph got Florida State its much-needed first touchdown of the 2016 NCAA season.
The Florida State Seminoles needed a touchdown and not another field goal as they trailed 28-6 to the Ole Miss Rebels in their neutral-site game in Orlando on Labor Day. Ole Miss had four touchdowns before the half and Florida State was a mess in every sense of the word.
On a third and 10 from the Ole Miss 16-yard line, redshirt freshman quarterback Deondre Francois dropped back to deliver a fantastic aerial strike to star wide receiver Travis Rudolph. The 16-yard touchdown pass gave Florida State its first pay dirt of the season with 30 seconds left in the half.
Ole Miss had complete control of the game’s momentum in the first half. For as bad as Florida State looked, it was excellent to see the Seminoles get into the end zone before the first half came to a close.
This could aid in the Seminoles having a better second half just knowing they got a touchdown on the strong Land Shark Defense of Ole Miss. Francois has to hang tough in this ball game, knowing that Ole Miss has a star under center in senior quarterback Chad Kelly.
Francois took a beating on that sweet pass down the middle of the field to Rudolph, but it was totally worth it. He can enter the locker room with confidence knowing that he got the Seminoles a passing touchdown in his first career start for the program.

Can Florida State use the momentum from this 16-yard strike and put on a comeback for the ages? It will help if the Seminoles defense can contain Kelly, as well as star running back Dalvin Cook not losing the football in the red zone unexpectedly.
