The Jaguars host the Packers to begin a season full of promise.

This Sunday in Florida, the Jacksonville Jaguars play host to the Green Bay Packers. The latter has been to the postseason seven straight years dating back to 2009. The Jaguars have not been to the playoffs since way back in 2007.

This offseason, Gus Bradley’s club is hoping to snap out of its depressing funk, one that has seen the team combine for a dismal 19-61 record since 2011.

On the other hand, the Packers have been a model of consistency. However, they look to rebound from a 10-6 season that saw them have their share of issues on offense due to numerous factors. Obviously, they still have quarterback Aaron Rodgers – the league’s Most Valuable Player in both 2011 and ’14. And they’re hoping bounce back years from wide receiver Jordy Nelson (out all of 2015 with a knee injury) and running back Eddie Lacy pave the way for another playoff appearance.

The Jaguars offense was one of the most improved units in the NFL in 2015 thanks mainly to the passing attack engineered by quarterback Blake Bortles and wide receivers Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns. Now add the AFC rushing leader from a year ago in running back Chris Ivory (via the New York Jets) and a little balance should make this unit even more dangerous.

This has all the makings of a high-scoring affair given the caliber of the quarterbacks and receivers, as well as the question marks surrounding both the Green Bay and Jacksonville defenses. In any case, this figures to be quite the litmus test for the Jaguars, who have earned a lot of attention this offseason and now look to justify those expectations.
