The Chicago Bears get to host the Philadelphia Eagles at Soldier Field on Monday Night Football in Week 2 of the 2016 NFL season on September 19th.

While the NFL featured two great Week 1 Monday Night Football games, there will only be one primetime game to finish Week 2. The two teams meeting on the gridiron for ESPN’s Monday Night Football in Week 2 will be the Chicago Bears and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Chicago gets to host Philadelphia at Solider Field on Monday, September 19th for an 8:30 PM ET primetime kickoff. Neither the Bears or the Eagles entered the 2016 NFL season with high expectations. Chicago hasn’t been to the NFC Playoffs in years. Philadelphia is rebuilding under new head coach Doug Pederson.

What the Bears and Eagles do have working for them this season are that they play in the two weakest divisions in the NFC: the NFC North and the NFC East, respectively. Chicago isn’t in the same class at NFC North juggernaut Green Bay, but the Teddy Bridgewater injury has brought the Minnesota Vikings back to earth with the Bears and the Detroit Lions in the NFC North.

Philadelphia may not be ready to contend at all in 2016, but all three of its NFC East rivals aren’t elite teams either. The Dallas Cowboys have lost two quarterbacks this season and have one of the worst defenses in football. The New York Giants have great perimeter players, but it remains to be seen how they’ll do in the trenches. Washington can repeat, but hasn’t been able to rattle of consecutive good seasons since the first Joe Gibbs era in DC.

Wins might be hard to come by for the Bears and Eagles this season. However, playing a primetime game head-to-head early in the season could serve as a confidence booster for either middling NFC franchise.
