Now that the ACC has pulled the football championship game from North Carolina, where could it land?

The 2016 college football season has just gotten underway, so it’s generally a little early to start talking about the conference championship games. Well, actually, that changed on Wednesday with the news that the ACC is pulling all of its 2016-17 neutral-site title games from the state over the HB2 law. This, of course, does include football.

So while we’re a long way from the first week of December, there is a small problem here now with one of the more lucrative conferences in college sports not having a home for its football title game. For the past few years the ACC Football title game has been a staple in Charlotte, and as we know, the conference as a whole is always associated with the state.

With this being the case, many are probably wondering where exactly the 2016 ACC Football Championship Game will take place now that it won’t be in Bank of America Stadium like usual because of this move.

Well, first off, there has been no official word given yet on where the game between the Atlantic and Coastal champions will take place. The conference will announce that at a later date.

But don’t be sad for them at all, because there are some pretty good options on the table. Obviously, the first suggestion that comes to mind is basically anywhere in the state of Florida. They could have the game in Orlando at Camping World Stadium, Miami at SunLife Stadium, or Tampa at Raymond James Stadium, just to name a few.

Then, of course, some have thrown out the idea of potentially doing doubleheader in Atlanta on Saturday inside the Georgia Dome with the SEC. Generally, the ACC title game starts after the SEC crowns its champion, so that’s not out of the realm of possibility either.

Really, with the geographical location of the conference, there are quite a few options here.

We won’t know for a little bit here just where the ACC will be holding its title game this season, but with the message here being on the HB2 bill and the controversy that comes with it, that’s not really the biggest of the worries at the moment.
