The Texas Longhorns take on the California Golden Bears at Memorial Stadium on Saturday. Three things you need know and how to watch the game online.

Apprehensive would best describe the Texas Longhorns fans’ approach to the 2016 season. There was talent and what seemed like hope, but you have to see it on the field before you fully buy in given recent years from the Longhorns. However, Charlie Strong’s group have proven they’re for real. And now they take their show and their 2-0 record out west to Memorial Stadium for a matchup with the California Golden Bears.

Shane Buechele has been dominant for Texas as their true freshman starting quarterback. Even more impressive, though, has been their defense, which has been stout and stingy thus far. Of course, a high-octane Cal attack led by graduate transfer Davis Webb will be a big test as well. Though the Golden Bears are just 1-1 through two games, Webb and company can strike big at any moment.

This game will be broadcast on ESPN on Saturday night. You can then live stream the action via WatchESPN. Log in online or through the ESPN app using a cable or satellite subscription to access the stream.

Needless to say, this is a big matchup that college football fans won’t want to miss or miss out on. Before you go into it, though, here are the three things you need to know about California vs Texas.

1. If you haven’t yet watched Texas’ freshman quarterback Shane Buechele, the kid is the absolute truth. He’s undoubtedly one day going to be a Heisman Trophy Finalist one day. While that day might not be here just yet, watch for fireworks whenever the youngster is letting it fly against Cal.

2. Cal quarterback Davis Webb and their No. 1 receiver in Chad Hansen have put up stupid numbers through two games. Webb has already thrown for 963 yards and nine scores. Hansen has benefitted the most, hauling in 28 receptions for 350 yards and three touchdowns already. Not to diminish everyone else, but shutting down that combo seems pretty vital to stopping the Golden Bears.

3. Texas hasn’t started a season 3-0 since 2012, which surely indicates their struggles of late. A big win over a solid program would be a real statement in proving that they are wholly deserving of their No. 11 ranking. Of course, they’ll have to avoid the classic Longhorns blunder that many fans are forlornly waiting on.
