Now that the ACC is moving eight championship events from North Carolina, the city of Orlando is reportedly making a push to host as many as possible.

One day after the NCAA made the decision to remove all championship or tournament events from the state of North Carolina due to a controversial bathroom law regarding the transgender community, the ball was in the ACC’s court Tuesday – and the league decided to follow along.

In a vote of conference members, the league decided to remove the eight scheduled tournaments that were going to take place in the state during the 2016-17 athletic year.

Several of the sports – football and women’s soccer – are now on short notice for finding a new championship home in just a few weeks. If they are looking for a location, Orlando is more than willing to host everything the ACC has to offer according to reports:

Currently, Camping World Stadium is scheduled to host the first weekend of the Florida high school football championships – so it’s unknown if that would keep them out of the running.

Fresh off hosting one of the biggest games so far this season when the city hosted Florida State’s season-opening win over Ole Miss, it proved more than ready for primetime events. With facilities both in downtown and at the Disney Wide World of Sports complex about 20 miles away, it’s entirely possible.

Whatever the ACC decides to do, they have just over 11 weeks before toe meets leather in their annual ACC Championship Game. Translation: figure out something soon.

I would anticipate a resolution will happen soon and Orlando looks to be the most likely destination after the game was displaced from Charlotte.
