The Buffalo Bills took a 24-20 lead on the New York Jets early in the third quarter on a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown in their Thursday Night Football affair in Week 2.

The first game of Week 2 on Thursday Night Football featured two teams desperately needing a win. The Buffalo Bills struggled in Baltimore in Week 1 and head coach Rex Ryan might already be on the hot seat. The New York Jets lost by one point at home to the Cincinnati Bengals. New York’s first six weeks of 2016 are absolutely brutal.

Neither of these AFC East rivals want to begin the 2016 NFL campaign in an 0-2 hole. New York had been in control for most of the game, but Buffalo has worked back to make it a tight ball game on Thursday night.

At the 11:30 mark in the third quarter on the Jets’ 33-yard line, New York quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick took a three-step drop out of shotgun on a second and eight. He quickly threw the football to top target Brandon Marshall.

Marshall would then cough up the football at the Jets’ 35-yard line and Bills cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman would return the fumble for a go-ahead touchdown. Buffalo took the lead, 24-20, after Dan Carpenter’s extra point.

New York probably has the deeper of the two NFL rosters entering Week 2. Buffalo has had a ton of offseason injuries to deal with this preseason. Though they were the home team, Buffalo was not given the benefit of the doubt in regards to the point spread.

After being even at the opening, Buffalo would be getting as many as three points before Thursday night’s kickoff from Orchard Park. Buffalo has won the last five meetings against the Jets. Maybe this is a sign the Bills will come out on top here in Week 2?
