Ohio State Buckeyes running back Curtis Samuel gets the first score of the game against the Oklahoma Sooners on a fourth down, 36-yard touchdown run.

The Ohio State Buckeyes lost a ton of great players to the 2016 NFL Draft, including star running back Ezekiel Elliott to the Dallas Cowboys with the No. 4 overall selection. Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer has to reload in 2016, but he is one of the best coaches in college football.

Having to fill the big shoes of Elliott in Columbus is running back Curtis Samuel. Though Ohio State has a Heisman hopeful already under center in quarterback J.T. Barrett, Samuel will have to be an effective runner to give the Buckeyes a chance at making the third annual College Football Playoff.

On a fourth-down inside of the Sooners’ end of the field, Meyer calls Samuel’s number, as the new starting running back for the Buckeyes gets into the end zone on an impressive 36-yard touchdown run.

Samuel looks the part here early in 2016 as a back capable of filling Elliott’s massive shoes in the Scarlet and Grey. Ohio State is given the benefit of the doubt in being able to reload, much like how Alabama is perceived in the SEC under head coach Nick Saban.

With playmakers like Samuel, it’ll be an easier time for Meyer to keep this Buckeye train rolling here in 2016. Ohio State has handled its two previous non-conference opponents by crushing the Bowling Green Falcons and the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in consecutive weeks.
