The Baltimore Ravens rallied late to beat the Cleveland Browns 25-20 at FirstEnergy Stadium in Week 2.

Cleveland had jumped out to a quick 20-0 lead, before the Ravens got their fightback going. A Justin Tucker field goal in the fourth quarter gave Baltimore its first lead.

It means the Ravens are now 2-0 in the AFC North, while the Browns, despite a spirited effort, prop up the division at 0-2.

Rookie wide receiver Corey Coleman snatched two touchdown passes as the Josh McCown-led Browns offense caught the Ravens cold early on. Coleman’s scoring grabs bookended a long touchdown run from Isaiah Crowell.

It was when the Browns tried to add three more points to their lead that the rot really began for Cleveland. Reserve defensive back Tavon Young recovered a blocked field goal and, under the new rules, ran his theft back for two points.

A Tucker field goal in between a pair of touchdown catches from Mike Wallace got the Ravens back in it. The Baltimore defense then rolled down the shutters after Tucker’s second field goal, punishing McCown in the pocket.

Another field goal made sure of the win, but only after C.J. Mosley picked off McCown late on.

Highlights

Three Stars

1. Corey Coleman

Aside from a needless penalty in the fourth quarter, after a tussle with cornerback Jimmy Smith, Coleman showed why the Browns made him a first-round pick in this year’s draft.

He needed only five catches to find the end zone twice and go over 100 yards in just his second game. Coleman offered McCown a deep threat all day, but he also showcased a real flair after the catch.

Those are the kind of playmaking skills the Browns’ passing game needs on the outside.

2. Mike Wallace

Okay, so tight end Dennis Pitta resumed his role as Mr. Clutch for quarterback Joe Flacco, catching nine passes. But it was still Wallace who produced the scoring plays.

The ex-Pittsburgh Steelers burner now has three touchdowns after two games. Only he was a little more mid-range against the Browns than he was on the 66-yarder he caught against the Buffalo Bills last week.

Instead, Wallace got open twice in the red zone to spark Baltimore’s comeback into life.

He’s had plenty of problems throughout his career, but 30-year-old Wallace is still a speedster who knows where the end zone is. He’s already added a more potent dimension to the Ravens pass attack.

3. Dennis Pitta

It would be remiss not to mention after Pitta after his nine-catch, 102-yard showing. He spent two years on the shelf, but you’d never know it from the way he expertly found space among Cleveland’s zone shells.

This was the Pitta of Baltimore’s Super Bowl run in 2012. Namely, a clutch target Flacco can count on when it matters.

Pitta’s shallow cross to convert on 3rd-and-2 and help ice the game deep in the fourth summed up his day. He’s still Flacco’s most dependable receiver.

Next Week

Trips to Florida await both teams in Week 3. The Browns will travel to face the Miami Dolphins, while the Ravens are on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
