Raiders at Titans: Game preview, odds, prediction
The Tennessee Titans have split their first 2 games this season. Can they get above .500 with a win over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday?
If the first two weeks of the Oakland Raiders’ season is any indication of how this Sunday’s meeting with the Tennessee Titans will unfold, the OVER/UNDER for this game (46.5 via Odds Shark) could be in very serious jeopardy.
Jack Del Rio’s club saw his Raiders and Saints combine for 69 points in Week 1 and seven days later, Oakland and Atlanta team for 63 points. Silver and Black defenders are looking fairly black and blue these days as the club has allowed 69 points in two games.
That means a Tennessee Titans’ team that has struggled so far when it comes to putting points on the board could have a lot of success against defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr.’s unit. Quarterback Marcus Mariota has had his ups and downs so far this year but he has a pretty respectable supporting cast that should get better with more time together.
To date, running back DeMarco Murray leads the team in rushing with 131 yards and in receptions with 12 catches – two for touchdowns (both in Week 1 vs. the Minnesota Vikings). Rookie wide receiver Tajae Sharpe has 11 grabs for 109 yards while 2015 Pro Bowl tight end Delanie Walker has hauled in nine passes for a team-best 125 yards and one score.
Odds
Line: Titans (-1)
Over/Under: 46.5
We all know what the Raiders are capable of these days and despite the fact that they’ve split their first two contests, they put up 35 and 28 points, respectively, against the Saints (win) and Falcons (loss). Quarterback Derek Carr is hitting on 69.9 percent of his passes, the team is averaging 470.0 total yards per game and has yet to commit a turnover.

We seem to be inferring that the OVER is a solid play this week. But there’s a lot to be said about the way Tennessee’s defense has played so far this season. The club has allowed one offensive touchdown and while we think the Raiders will do better than that, it is buyer beware here when it comes to the Silver and Black and that tempting total.
Pick: Tennessee 24, Oakland 21
