After an up and down first half of the season, the Detroit Tigers have been surging since the All-Star break. Here’s three reasons why they continue to push for the final wild-card spot and make it into the 2016 MLB playoffs.

There’s less than two weeks of baseball left on the schedule, and teams that are still in contention are focused heavily on the 2016 MLB playoffs. The faithful fans in Detroit are proud to say that they root for one of those respective teams.

After four consecutive postseason appearances and a 2012 pennant, the Detroit Tigers finished under five-hundred last season and missed the playoffs entirely.

During the off-season, team owner Mike Ilitch and general manager Al Avila made the adjustments they felt were necessary to ensure a postseason return.

One area of weakness that required immediate attention was the bullpen.

In their four-year reign as American League Central champs, their playoff run consistently ended with a late inning collapse. After a strong start by their veteran rotation, the bullpen would take the mound only to hand over the hard earned lead.

The front office completed their off-season overhaul with the signing of outfielder Justin Upton, he was brought in to shore up the left side of the outfield.

Backed by substantial upgrades and an off-season of rest, the Tigers seem poised to return to the playoffs.

With ten games remaining, here are three reasons why they will make a late run and secure a spot in the 2016 MLB playoffs.
