Here are the three main reasons why the New York Mets will make the playoffs.

Many would consider this season a disappointment for the New York Mets after a division title and World Series appearance last season. They currently sit at 80-71 and in a three-way tie for two wild card spots.

A lot of changes were made from last year. They let go of Daniel Murphy, re-signed Yoenis Cespedes and let their bullpen get worse. One thing that hasn’t changed is the mediocre manager still running the show, Terry Collins. The magic hasn’t carried over yet from last year either. The Mets have one of the worst batting averages with runners in scoring position. If it weren’t for the long ball, this team would never score.

Aside from all of that, they have been bit by the injury bug all year. They lost players like Matt Harvey, Juan Lagares, David Wright, Neil Walker and recently Jacob DeGrom for the year. Steven Matz and Lucas Duda have missed significant time. If that’s not bad enough, Cespedes, Jose Reyes and Asdrubal Cabrera have dealt with nagging injuries.

So, with all this going on in New York, it is no wonder why they have had a worse year then last but once you get into the playoffs, anything can happen. And right now the Mets have the best shot. With just 11 games left in the regular season, it is setup for a dog fight between the Mets, the Cardinals and the Giants.

Out of those three teams, here are three reasons the Mets will come out on top.
