The Indianapolis Colts were able to defeat the San Diego Chargers, and it was due in large part to T.Y. Hilton’s late touchdown catch.

Indianapolis isn’t a very good team, and to have any hope of winning needs its stars to be exactly that. Trailing 22-20 against the Chargers in the final two minutes, Andrew Luck stepped up in the pocket and hit T.Y. Hilton on a crossing route. The result was a broken tackle and a 63-yard touchdown, giving Indianapolis the winning points.

San Diego has a good secondary, but it was torched throughout the day by the duo of Luck and Hilton. Luck threw for 331 yards and a touchdown on 8.9 yards per attempt and Hilton was his favorite target with eight catches, 174 yards and a score.

The Chargers have to wonder what hit them. San Diego played well enough to win on the road, but it wasn’t to be in the end due to some poor play on the back end. As for the Colts, they had to have this game to stay in the AFC South race. With the Houston Texans falling to the New England Patriots earlier in the week (along with the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars both losing), the Colts are right in the thick of it.

Hilton needs to keep playing well with Donte Moncrief down for at least a month. The Colts are a much different team with Hilton getting deep down the field, forcing defenses to defend vertically instead of simply horizontally.
