The New Orleans Saints can’t handle this punt from the Atlanta Falcons’ Matt Bosher. New Orleans gave the Falcons great field position for an easy score.

The New Orleans Saints had the early momentum in their Monday Night Football game in Week 3 versus the hated Atlanta Falcons. New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees shredded a lost Falcons defense on a drive that resulted in a Coby Fleener touchdown to put the Saints up 7-0.

New Orleans was able to force a Falcons punt on Atlanta’s first offensive drive. However, the Saints didn’t know what they were doing on Falcons punter Matt Bosher’s kick. Two Saints collided with each other to give the Falcons great field position on this fumble recovery.

The Saints would actually briefly recover the muffed punt, only to cough up the football to the Falcons deep in New Orleans territory. After a few offensive plays, Falcons running back Tevin Coleman would scamper into the end zone to make the game 7-6 Saints. The following Matt Bryant PAT would tie the game at seven points apiece.

5 NFL teams that should hire Les Miles

New Orleans is one of only five teams in the NFL without a win on the season. Yes, it’s only Week 3, but the Saints can’t afford to start the season down 0-3. That would have them tied for last in the NFC with the awful Chicago Bears.

Should Atlanta knock off New Orleans in the Big Easy, the Falcons would be in sole possession of first place in the NFC entering Week 4. Both the Carolina Panthers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost in Week 3 to fall to 1-2 on the season.

If the Falcons stumble on Monday Night Football, first place in the NFC South would belong to Tampa Bay, who have the head-to-head tiebreaker over Atlanta.
