The Texas Longhorns should fire Charlie Strong and replace him with Houston’s Tom Herman.

After a strong start to the season, inconsistency has struck the Texas Longhorns yet again. After two straight wins to begin the season, the Longhorns have dropped two straight games and are quickly plummeting. Their win over Notre Dame no longer looks as good as it did at the beginning of the season. With all of this in mind, the Longhorns need to hit the reset button. That means getting rid of Charlie Strong and going after Houston’s Tom Herman.

Just about every team in need of a coach will be after Herman. However, the Longhorns have the advantage of still being in Texas and a program with talent for Herman to mold. It might be a long shot, but these are five reasons the Longhorns need to replace Strong with Herman.

5. The Longhorns need to hit the reset button

Saturday’s loss to Oklahoma State was a clear reminder that Texas is indeed not back. Their Week 1 win over Notre Dame fooled a lot of people. As Notre Dame continued to drop game after game following their loss, it became clear the win by Texas wasn’t exactly that great.

By dropping a conference game to kick things off, the Longhorns are not trending in the right direction. They have Oklahoma next week and that means that Strong is going to need his boys to come through with another win. Dropping below .500 will get the hot seat chatter even more fired up.

At this point, if the chatter is even a thing again, then it’s time to change. This team needs a reset and Herman is the guy to go after. It won’t be easy, but they have a leg up on other teams for a variety of reason.
