Georgia Bulldogs freshman quarterback Jacob Eason connects with freshman tight end Isaac Nauta for a 50-yard touchdown on the Tennessee Volunteers defense.

The Georgia Bullldogs had themselves two outstanding five-star offensive players in their 2015 recruiting class. For the first time this season, quarterback Jacob Eason connects with tight end Isaac Nauta for a Georgia touchdown.

Up 17-14 in the third quarter against the Tennessee Volunteers, Eason is able to find Nauta wide open in the middle of the field. Nauta would scamper to the Tennessee end zone on a 50-yard touchdown. The successful point after attempt by Rodrigo Blankenship would put Georgia back up 10 on Tennessee, 24-14.

Eason was the Gatorade National Player of the Year out of Lake Stevens, Washington. Nauta spent his senior year at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. He grew up in nearby Buford, Georgia, a short career from the Athens campus.

These are two of college football’s elite freshmen prospects. They will be together in Athens at least through the 2018 NCAA season. Eason is surprisingly the starting quarterback for the Bulldogs in his freshman season. He beat out redshirt senior Greyson Lambert for the starting quarterback job in 2016.

Nauta is one of four tight ends that play on Georgia’s 2016 roster. This is great news for Eason’s development going forward, as offensive coordinator Jim Chaney loves to use the tight end.

Nauta’s breakaway speed for that size has drawn him favorable comparisons to New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. Eason is considered the best pro style passer college football has seen since Matthew Stafford. Stafford played for Georgia from 2006 to 2008 before being the No. 1 overall pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2009 NFL Draft.

If these two Georgia freshmen can grow together these next few years, this could be one of the best passing attacks in all of college football. Georgia’s offensive future looks bright with guys like Eason and Nauta.
