Jimmy Garoppolo will start for Patriots in Week 4 vs. Bills
By David Rouben
In what will likely be his last chance to start, Jimmy Garoppolo will be fit enough to suit up in the New England Patriots’ Week 4 contest against the Buffalo Bills.
Until he got hurt in Week 2, Jimmy Garoppolo was playing well enough to be a worthy successor to Tom Brady. And in what will be the New England Patriots’ last game before Brady comes back, Garoppolo will get to start under center, according to Patriots beat writer Levan Reid.
Already 3-0 without Tom Brady, the Patriots are once again the team to beat. But Garoppolo’s return should alter their game plan since they don’t have to lean on LeGarrette Blount so much. It also means that they don’t have to start Julian Edelman at quarterback, which is something Rex Ryan was hopeful would happen.
You can expect Garoppolo to play as well as he has in the first two weeks. The Bills may be coming off a game where they picked off Carson Palmer four times, but Rex Ryan’s record against Bill Belichick is an abysmal 4-11. And with a win, the Patriots would have a chance to start the season 4-0 without Brady.

Even if Edelman started at quarterback, the Bills probably would’ve lost. Belichick has proven that he can win with any quarterback so far, and Edelman has shown a couple of times in his career that he can throw a deep ball.
But with Garoppolo under center, he’ll want to help both the Patriots and his trade stock. Once Tom Brady comes back, he won’t get to start for New England again, barring a Brady injury, which is why he’s hoping a team can trade for him on the back of a great performance.
