After a couple of teaser images on Instagram and years of speculation, it looks like Beyond Good & Evil 2 is finally going to happen.

Beyond Good & Evil is one of the most under-appreciated games of all-time. Releasing back in 2003, the game blended a variety of different types of gameplay mechanics into an action-adventure based game. From combat to storytelling to photography to even racing, it was a very versatile game, and it was successful in all aspects.

It wasn’t commercially well-received, considering the time it was released, but almost everyone who has made the decision to play this game definitely enjoyed it. In fact, a wide variety of other gamers were able to experience this game when an HD remaster was released on the Xbox Live Arcade in March of 2011, and then in June of that same year on the PlayStation Network. It’s extremely underrated.

A sequel seemed to be planned, but it looked like we would never get it. We got a new teaser trailer back in 2008, but nothing else was revealed about the game.

Every year, we would hope that Ubisoft would show something off about the game, but after almost a decade, we were starting to lose hope. Now, some light has been shed on the sequel thanks to game director Michel Ancel.

About a week ago, he released a concept art for what looks like a potential sequel for the game. The image shows off a man with a young pig on his shoulder. If you remember, Pey’j was the main companion and guardian of the primary character in the game, Jade.

Then, six days ago, Ancel released another image revealing a shark. In the game, there were many different types of animals that inhabited the world, so this is no surprise.

Finally, he released a new picture on Tuesday, revealing another image of a rhino with dreadlocks. Only this time, the caption is what stands out. The caption says, “Endangered species – now saved – Game in pre-production – Stay tuned !”

So Ancel pretty much confirmed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is in the works. Get excited now.

It’s possible that he may release more images on the game via Instagram, but the most likely scenario is a formal announcement sometime next year.
