After its announcement at E3 2016, we got our very first look at gameplay for the upcoming reboot from Bethesda Softworks, Prey.

Back at E3 2016, Bethesda hosted another press conference, showing off a variety of games. We saw some reveals of games we already knew about, but there were plenty of surprises.

One big surprise was the announcement of Quake Champions. Quake is one of the most popular first-person arena shooters of all-time and for long-time fans, this is great news. The reveal trailer didn’t show any gameplay, but the cinematic trailer was definitely great to look at and got us excited to see what else is in store for the game.

Another big game that was announced is the reboot to Prey. Back in 2006, 2K Games and Human Head Studios released a first-person shooter called Prey. The game blends many aspects of gameplay together, such as traveling through portals as a means of exploration, the manipulation of gravity, and even riding in some vehicles. A sequel was planned for the game for quite some time, but plans fell through and eventually Bethesda Softworks acquired the rights to the game.

It wasn’t until E3 2016 that we finally got a first look at the next Prey. Being a reboot, it will be a different take on the franchise. At Bethesda’s press conference, they revealed a cinematic trailer for the game, but gameplay was pretty much absent. But, on Monday, we got a brand-new gameplay trailer. Check it out below:

The most interesting takeaway from the trailer is that we will be able to choose between playing as a man or a woman, both named Morgan Yu. This choice won’t change the story or how you play the game, but it definitely caters to different gamers.

In the gameplay, there’s a lot of gun play and beautiful visuals, but there’s much more to it. We can’t wait to see what else is in store for the reboot.

Next: Beyond Good & Evil 2 officially in pre-production

Prey will release sometime in 2017 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
