The Blue Jays stay alive in the American League Championship Series with a 5-1 win over the Indians in a critical Game 4.

The Toronto Blue Jays handed the Cleveland Indians their first loss of the 2016 postseason with a commanding 5-1 win in Game 4 of the ALCS on Tuesday afternoon.

Blue Jays pitcher Aaron Sanchez held the Tribe to two hits in his six innings of work, allowing only one run in the 5th inning. Indians manager Terry Francona brought starter Corey Kluber in on three days’ rest after burning through six relievers in Game 3 last night due to Trevor Bauer’s first inning exit from the game. That, coupled with a quick turnaround from last night’s game, might explain the Indians’ sluggish defense in today’s game.

Josh Donaldson kicked things off for the Blue Jays in the 3rd inning with a home run to left center field, putting the Jays up 1-0. In the next inning Ezequiel Carrera’s single to center drove in Troy Tulowitzki. Cleveland came on the board in the top of the 5thinning when Roberto Perez doubled down the left field line to drive in Coco Crisp. That would be the only run scored for the Indians.

In the 7th inning, Edward Encarnacion’s single drove in Ryan Goins and Jose Bautista to bring the Jays up 4-1. Kevin Pillar’s sac fly in the 8th inning brought in Ezequiel Carrera to bring the final score 5-1 Blue Jays.
