According to reports, Packers’ running back Eddie Lacy is expected to miss several weeks with ‘more than a sprained ankle.’

The Green Bay Packers are still fighting to find their mojo after another mediocre performance on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. Green Bay lost the game, 30-16, at home and head into Week 7 with just a 3-2 record.

Besides getting off to an uncharacteristically average start to the season, record-wise, Aaron Rodgers has looked pedestrian through five games and now Eddie Lacy might be out for an extended period of time. According to Ian Rapoport, the Packers’ running back has more than just a sprained ankle.

This is bad news for the Packers seeing as Lacy was having a great start to the season, rushing for 360 yards on 5.1 per touch. However, he had yet to reach the end zone, which was surprising seeing as he had worked out this offseason to get back into shape in order to be able to get those goal-line snaps.

It was clear the Packers knew something more was up with Lacy’s ankle on Tuesday as they added Knile Davis via trade with the Kansas City Chiefs. It wasn’t a huge move, but it’ll be enough to hold Green Bay over with James Starks out as well.

As long as Rodgers can get his season turned around and Davis averages 50-plus yards per game with a couple of rushing scores in Lacy’s absence, the Packers should be just fine.

However, it makes you wonder just what the injury to his ankle might be if it’s more than a sprain. Several weeks is a very broad term and that could mean anything from a couple of weeks to the rest of the year.

Green Bay will hope it’s only a couple of weeks. Oh, and fantasy football owners, too.
