These are some of the best bets to take a look at in Week 8 of college football action

It is mid-October and that means we have effectively reached the halfway point of the college football season. That reality, of course, is a sad one but there is still plenty of gridiron action to dissect and we continue to give you winners in this space. Week 7 was another profitable slate if you followed our advice and, before we get to Week 8, let’s take a look at where things stand for the season to this point.

  • Last Week: 6-4
  • Season: 40-28-1

Now, to the picks.

Oregon and California UNDER 87.5 points

Yes, you are reading that correctly. The total on this game is 87.5 points. Out of principle, I have to take the under, even with the caveat that both of these defenses are pretty shaky, to put it mildly. In truth, I considered giving out an Oregon team (+3) that has lost four straight games, but I just can’t allow a line this high to go by without taking a crack at the under. It’s in my blood.

NC State (+20) over Louisville

We strung together a winner in fading Louisville a week ago, and while the handicapping market isn’t buying that performance from the Cardinals, I’m ready to go against Lamar Jackson, Bobby Petrino and company again. NC State is feisty and I just think this line is about a field goal too high. At 17, I would stay away completely, but the extra candy is enough to entice me in the direction of the Wolfpack, even on the road.
