The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the No. 6 Texas A&M Aggies in Week 8, 33-14. Here are all the highlights, a game recap, and the final score.

In the biggest game on the slate, the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide overcame a 14-13 deficit to beat the No. 6 Texas A&M Aggies, 33-14 in CBS’ SEC Game of the Week. Alabama turned it on in the third quarter to beat Texas A&M and move to 8-0 on the year.

Texas A&M played hard, but could not contain the vaunted Alabama pass rush headlined by senior defensive end Jonathan Allen. Alabama held Aggies quarterback Trevor Knight to under 50% passing (14-31) for only 164 yards through the air. Once Alabama laid down the hammer in the third quarter, it was game over for the Aggies.

Alabama continues to get points from its defense and special teams. Allen had a big guy touchdown on a fumble recovery on a muffed handoff from Knight in the Texas A&M backfield. Cornerback Marlon Humphrey continues to impress with another interception.

The Crimson Tide aren’t perfect, as they are starting a true freshman at quarterback in Jalen Hurts. He is immensely talented, but like all freshmen, has his ups and downs in his first college season. Hurts makes plays with his legs, but needs to take better care of the football through the air. He was picked off twice in the game, but had three combined touchdowns.

This SEC West rivalry game solidified which team in this division will play for the 2016 SEC Championship in Atlanta. Alabama will run train on whomever comes out of the SEC East. The Crimson Tide could slip up once on in their final four regular season games, but have the look of a future national championship. Today, the Tide rolled.

Three Stars

  1. Jonathan Allen: Allen was everything for the Alabama defense. He had a scoop and score on an Aggies’ botched handoff. That was Alabama’s 10th straight game with a non-offensive touchdown. Allen is a top-10 level pick when he enters the 2017 NFL Draft.
  2. Damien Harris: Though Harris did not get into the end zone for the Crimson Tide, he was their bell-cow back yet again in a huge SEC victory. Harris had 17 carries for 128 yards to lead the team.
  3. Jalen Hurts: Hurts wasn’t as dynamic as he was in Week 7. He still completed 15 of 25 passes for 164 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Hurts would also run the ball 21 times for 93 yards and a touchdown.
