Spurs, the only unbeaten Premier League team, travel to Bournemouth with the opportunity to at least temporarily commandeer first place in the standings.
They will be forced once again to play without first-choice center-back Toby Alderweireld and, quite possibly, left-back Danny Rose. Spurs injury woes haven’t cost them in the standings thus far and Mauricio Pochettino will definitely err on the side of caution, knowing Eric Dier is more than capable of replacing Rose on the left. Alderweireld’s bruised knee should fully recover for Spurs next game against Leicester.
Tottenham had their way with Bournemouth last season, beating the freshly promoted side by a combined tally of 8-1. That, however, is all in the past.
Bournemouth, with 11 points from 8 matches, sit in 11th place in the table and haven’t lost in three games. They have all the components of a middle-of-the-pack team, quite an accomplishment for a squad with just over a season of Premier League experience under their belt.
Junior Stanislas has played admirably of late, the 25-year-old midfielder already scoring three goals in six Premier League appearances. Most of Bournemouth’s attacks will go through Stanislas and Callum Wilson.
Wilson, who has also scored three goals thus far, will need to be integral if Bournemouth hope to end Tottenham’s nine-game unbeaten run in all competitions.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has a fearless approach to these type of big-match encounters and won’t, like many other teams hosting Spurs, want to settle for a draw. They’ll play quickly and incisively, hoping to gain an early advantage on the visiting Spurs.
That should make for an entertaining contest between two strong, if not lethal offenses. Spurs were kept off the scoresheet for the first time in 21 contests in the midweek 0-0 draw with Leverkusen, while Bournemouth bagged six in a prolific offensive output against lowly Hull.

The Cherries will have to eradicate a bad omen against London teams to triumph on Saturday. Bournemouth have mustered only one win in nine matches against top-flight teams from the capital.
Even more disconcertingly, Bournemouth have yet to beat a top-flight team from London at home in five attempts. Could this be the game where they burst their London bubble?
We don’t thinks so, as Spurs will go want to put their recent 1-1 result against West Ham well truly behind them. Spurs have endured a few hiccups when a chance to go top of the standings is on the table.
