On Saturday, Oct. 22, the Rangers travel to the Verizon Center to take on the Capitals. This is the first time the two teams square off in the 2016-17 NHL season.

While their offense has only scored 11 games in four games, their defense has been extremely stingy. The Caps are tied with the Vancouver Canucks for the fewest goals allowed with six. Their +5 goal differential is second in the NHL to the Montreal Canadiens. Marcus Johansson has the team lead in points with four while four players each have two goals.

Meanwhile, the Rangers enter the game with a 2-2-0 record. They are coming off a rough 2-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings. So far this season, they have beaten the New York Islanders and San Jose Sharks while losing to the St. Louis Blues and Red Wings. Chris Kreider’s seven points and three goals both are team highs. New York’s offense has been impressive so far, scoring 15 goals in their first four games.
