Texas A&M took the lead on No. 1 Alabama with this touchdown pass from Trevor Knight.

The marquee game of Saturday afternoon has No. 6 Texas A&M traveling to Tuscaloosa to play No. 1 Alabama. To win this, the Aggies need a strong game out of quarterback Trevor Knight and to slow down a strong Crimson Tide offense.

Early on, Alabama took the lead 13-0 off a Jalen Hurts touchdown pass and two field goals. They seemed to be all over A&M, until the away team scored late in the first half to make it, 13-7. Some kind of momentum had been needed before going into the locker room.

Texas A&M would open the second half with the ball. This saw running back Keith Ford gain a chunk of yards on a few carries. However, the drive would be led by Knight, who hit Jeremy Tabuyo with a 33-yard pass. One play later, the Oklahoma transfer threw a 25-yard dime to Christian Kirk for the touchdown. This gave the Aggies their first lead of the game at 14-13.

Holding this lead is going to be difficult against the resilient No. 1 team in the nation. While this is only a one-point lead, they overcame a 21-point deficit versus Ole Miss earlier in the season to win. It’s the only time Nick Saban’s squad has really been threatened, but it seems like Texas A&M has a shot at upsetting them on Saturday.

The winner of this game will solidify their status in the SEC. A victory would keep Alabama in the top spot while Texas A&M could climb multiple spots from their No. 6 ranking. It would increase their chances at the College Football Playoff when the committee finalizing the top four teams in December.
