Week 8 of the college football season is in the books, and a few players continue to dominate individually. Here are the top five performers from Week 8.

The college football season is in full swing, and some teams are really starting to distinguish themselves as the best of the bunch.

In Week 8, No. 1 Alabama throttled sixth-ranked Texas A&M, while the No. 2 team in the land fell to an old rival. Ohio State went into Happy Valley and laid an egg, as their special teams play proved to be a killer on Saturday night.

As we switch the focus to the individual performances, a star running back returned in a big way, and Oklahoma and Texas Tech had a few players dominate in a shootout. With that being said, let’s take a look at the top five individual performances from Week 8 of the college football season.

The Toledo Rockets are making some noise in the MAC this season, winning six of their first seven games. On Saturday, they took on Central Michigan in the Glass Bowl, and were able to slow the Chippewas’ high-octane offense in a 31-17 victory. Wide receiver Cody Thompson made his presence felt early and often, putting up a career-day.

Thompson tied his career-high with seven catches, going for a game-high 122 yards. Quarterback Logan Woodside connected with Thompson four times for scores, giving him every touchdown scored by the Rockets in the contest. Thompson scored touchdowns of 11 and 34 yards, while going for 16 yards twice.

For his effort, Thompson was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week, and he has been a touchdown machine all season. Thompson has scored a touchdown in every game but one this season, and his four touchdowns on Saturday are the second-most in a single game in school history. Through seven games, Thompson has 844 yards and nine touchdowns.
